Deployment of Ocean Bottom Seismometers by UiB GEO in the Fram Strait

UiB-GEO deployed three Ocean Bottom Seismometers (OBS) in the Fram Strait near the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The instruments will sit on the sea floor for one year to monitor earth movements. The recorded data will be used to analyze earthquake sources and potentially other geohazards. The measurements will improve earthquake monitoring in the Arctic region as the better monitoring coverage allows for detecting smaller earthquakes. Personnel involved are Zeinab Jeddi (Seismologist, UiB-GEO), Jürgen Gossler (OBS technician, K.U.M.), and Mathilde B. Sørensen (Seismologist, UiB-GEO).
