Seismometers in Longyearbyen - community-based observing

Two small seismometers were deployed in Longyearbyen by UiB GEO. The seismometers, of type Raspberry Shake, can measure earth movements at the millimeter level or less. The instrument provide us with important information about movements in the subsoil that may be caused by, for example, earthquakes or landslides.

The deployment is a part of WP4 which is focused on community-based observing systems and therefore it is seen as an opportunity to involve local organizations in the surveillance and make data available to people in Longyearbyen.
