This observational program (BGOS) started in 2003 and includes measurements of oceanic and sea ice parameters year round based on 3-4 moorings deployed and recovered annually in the center of the Beaufort Gyre of the Arctic Ocean and based on annual (summer-fall) hydrographic surveys of the region at standard sites allowing analysis of long-term changes.
