Workshop: Community-based Monitoring

Title: Community-based Monitoring: An experience exchange workshop for Canadian practitioners.

This workshop is part of the Arctic Change conference in Quebec City 11-15 December 2017 (http://www.arcticnetmeetings.ca/ac2017/). It brings together community-based monitoring practitioners from across northern Canada to exchange experiences and identify priorities for observing, network-building, and data management and sharing. It is the second in a series of workshops being organized through the INTAROS project; the first workshop was held in Fairbanks, Alaska, in May 2017, with additional workshops planned for Europe and Russia in 2018. The objective of the workshops is to identify regional priorities as well as to consider how CBM programs would like to contribute to pan-Arctic observing and monitoring initiatives. The date and location of the workshop coincides with the 2017 ArcticNet Annual Scientific Meeting.

Workshop organizers: Noor Johnson, Exchange for Local Knowledge and Observations of the Arctic, National Snow and Ice Data Center, University of Colorado; Finn Danielsen, Nordic Foundation for Development and Ecology; Hajo Eicken, International Arctic Research Center, University of Alaska Fairbanks; Maryann Fidel, Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council; Lisbeth Iversen, Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center.
