Recovery of INTAROS mooring north of Svalbard

A milestone was achieved by recovery of the INTAROS biogeochemical mooring located north of Svalbard, The mooring was recoverd by UIB Geophysical Institute during the Kronprins Håkon cruise. The mooring consisted of advanced technology measuring different biogeochemical variables like temperature, salinity, ocean currents, sea ice cover, nutrient, CO2, pH and optical biological parameters. It is to our knowledge the first real biogeochemical mooring deployed in the Arctic and we are now looking forward to recovering the data which covers one full annual cycle. If this pilot study gives us valuable data this mooring concept can become a prototype for biogeochemical studies in the future.
